A clean tee. It won't last.280 grams a square metre, pre-washed twice so it's already shrunk. This is the last time it looks like this, and that's fine.

What it's made to take.

200

washes at forty before the seams go. We counted. Then we made the seams better.

280 gsm

cotton. Heavy for a kid's tee. Light enough to dry on a line by lunch.

0

logos, slogans, characters. Nothing that dates, nothing that can't go to a cousin.

2

sizes up, on purpose. Rolled cuffs at three, right at five.

Pale blue and white washing on a line in a green field by the sea

Faded is the finish.

Every wash takes a little colour and none of the shape. By wash fifty it's the colour it was always going to be, and it stays there. We photograph the samples at fifty, not new.

The kit

Three things. Six colours.

A tee, dungarees, a sweat. Everything goes with everything, and everything goes in the same wash.

Tee · 280 gsm · washed twiceThe teeBoxy, long, a neck that survives being pulled on

The one from the wash test. Two sizes up is the size. Ages one to ten, six colours that fade well.

£22 · three for £58
Dungarees · 12 oz canvas · brassThe dungareesKnees doubled, straps that adjust without a tool

Canvas, not denim, because canvas dries and denim sulks. The knees are the second layer for a reason.

£48
Sweat · 400 gsm loopbackThe sweatRaglan sleeves, ribbed hem, cuffs to roll

Heavier than most adult sweats. Goes over the tee, under the coat, and through the same two hundred washes.

Rules

Five things we don't do.

Most kidswear is designed for the photo. Ours is designed for the afternoon after the photo.

A child's legs in grey cotton trousers lying in long grass
01
No logosNot ours, not anyone's. A plain tee outlives every character on television.
02
No thin cottonTwo hundred and eighty grams. It costs more, it lasts three times longer. You do the sum.
03
No dry clean, no delicatesForty degrees, with everything else, tumble if you must. If it can't take that, we don't sell it.
04
No true-to-sizeCut two up. A child grows a size a year and a tee should see two of them.
05
No throwing awaySend it back when it's finally done and we'll send a patch kit or a discount, whichever it needs.

Tee, dungarees, sweat. Tell us the age, not the size, and we'll send the size that'll fit for two years. Six colours. If it comes back stained we'll want to know what with.
