Psychotherapy · Two rooms above the river

A quiet room is the method.

Fifty minutes. One chair that is yours. Nothing you say leaves the room.

The chair

It faces the window, not the desk.

You can look at the river the whole hour if you want to. Some people do, for the first few weeks.

What we do

We don't do breakthroughs. We do Tuesdays.

Talking therapy, once a week, same room, same hour. Most of what changes, changes slowly and then all at once — but the slowly part is the work, and it happens in ordinary weeks.

We are trained in psychodynamic and cognitive approaches. We will tell you which we're using if you ask. We won't use either as a script.

It isa place to say the thing out loud, to someone who won't flinch and won't repeat it.
It isn'tadvice, coaching, a diagnosis on the first day, or a plan with a finish line drawn on it.
Lengthas long as it's useful. Some people come for twelve weeks. Some have come for years.
Betweenno homework, unless you want some. No app. No check-in texts.
Minute by minute

Muddy water, left alone, clears itself.

Most people arrive stirred. The room's first job isn't to fix or reframe. It's to stop the stirring, and let the silt fall on its own.

Stirred. The week, the drive here, the last email. Everything is still moving.
The hour

Fifty minutes, the same way every week.

Confidentiality

The door is the first instrument.

Nothing leaves. Not to an employer, a partner, a GP, or a file somewhere else, unless you ask us in writing or someone's life is at risk. The law says so. So do we, and we said it first.

Who comes

You don't need a name for it to book the room.

The flat weeks

Nothing is wrong, exactly. Nothing is right either. You've been fine for a long time and are tired of it.

The loud ones

Anxiety that arrives before you do. Sleep that won't. The 4am audit of everything you've ever said.

After

A death, a diagnosis, a divorce, a birth. The thing everyone else has stopped asking about.

The unsaid

Something you've never told anyone. You'd like to say it once, out loud, to a person, and see what happens.

Two of you

Couples, in the larger room. Same rules: fifty minutes, one chair each, nothing leaves.

Not sure

The first conversation is twenty minutes, on the phone or in the room, and costs nothing. Come and find out.

Conifer forest with low fog drifting between the trees

You don't have to arrive with a story. Fog is allowed.

Room one. The chair faces the window. The desk is behind you, and stays there.
The rooms · the people

Two rooms, first floor, a brass number on the door.

Above the river, above a bookshop. The stairs are steep and the landing is quiet. Room one seats two. Room two seats three, for couples. Both have a window you can look at instead of us.
