A bronze fitting, worn bright exactly where the hand goes
Architectural hardware · cast bronze · unlacquered

The hand meets
the building here.

Pulls, levers, and knobs cast in solid bronze and left bare. The building goes dark and green with age; the part you hold stays bright, because you hold it.

Three shapes · one alloy · no lacquer, ever
The credo

A door handle is the only piece of a building you are guaranteed to touch. Everything else is looked at. This is held.

Bronze remembers every hand.

Touches, counted
1DAY ONE, POLISHED

Straight from the foundry, buffed to a warm gold. Pretty, and about to change. We tell every client: this is the least interesting it will ever look.

I · the bar pull

The Bar

Solid, 300 or 600 mm, back-to-back

One cast rod, tapered to the fixings. For doors that get pulled forty times an hour and need to feel the same on the forty-first.

WEIGHT1.4 KG · 2.6 KG
II · the lever

The Lever

A rose, a spindle, and a spring you'll never see

Drops eight degrees under the hand and returns without the clack. The one piece of hardware with a moving part — so we cast it heavy and spring it light.

ROSE52 MM · CONCEALED FIX
III · the knob

The Knob

A sphere, slightly flattened, 64 mm

The oldest shape and the hardest to cast well. Turned after casting so the palm finds no seam, then left to the years.

TURNONE HAND, ANY HAND
A hand on the lathe, turning bronze
On doors, briefly

Nobody remembers a hinge.

Everybody remembers

how the door felt to open.

The turning bench, bronze coming off the lathe
The foundry

Sand-cast, hand-turned, left alone.

Each piece is cast in sand from a wooden pattern, then turned and finished by hand. No lacquer, ever — lacquer is a promise the bronze will look like the catalogue, and we'd rather it looked like your house.
